Welder-Fabricator (TIG & MAG/MIG)
£35,000 to £40,000 (including overtime available)Open ended + 33 Days Holiday
This is a great opportunity to join us at a time of expansion, we are looking for a Fabricator-Welder to work in a new team. Ideally you will be time served Fabricator-Welder with experience using TIG and/or MIG/MAG welding processes on high integrity stainless steel components ensuring welded joints meet the required acceptance criteria of the relevant standard.
Ideally you will have previous experience working in the nuclear or pressure equipment industries manufacturing large, complex fabrications to high quality requirements.
This is a full time permanent position, offering long term job security within an interesting and varied business. The role offers a competitive rate of pay with excellent overtime opportunities available on all shifts.
Initially the role would incorporate day shifts 6am – 2pm (or 8am – 4pm possible if required) and eventually moving to alternative shifts of days (6am – 2pm) and noon’s (2pm – 9.30pm).
If you are a skilled welder but don’t have the fabrication experience or background, we could be flexible for someone with the right attitude who is willing to learn and work in a team environment.
Earnings with overtime will be in the region of £35,000 to £40,000 and open ended.
Fabricator-Welder Duties and Responsibilities
- Fabricate and manufacture large stainless-steel components.
- Responsible for the dimensional accuracy of pre-inspection parts.
- Ability to follow technical drawings and method statements to ensure exact output to specification.
- Follow welding procedure specifications (WPS’s) in order to produce welds of high quality with TIG and MIG/MAG welding processes.
- Ensuring the maintenance and operation of all tools, fixtures, machinery and welding equipment on a daily basis.
- Ensuring material storage is sufficiently managed to ensure no cross contamination and traceable throughout the fabrication process.
- Experience of using overhead cranes lifting large components preferable.
- Follow technical procedures for the safe use and storage of welding consumables.
- Ability to work and problem solve within a small specialised team.
- Adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
Fabricator-Welder Requirements and Qualifications
- Previous experience as a qualified TIG and/or MIG/MAG welder in accordance with BS EN 287-1, BS EN ISO 9606-1 or ASME BPVC Section IX specifications.
- Ideally be a time served fabricator-welder to an NVQ level III or equivalent level, with extensive experience fabricating stainless steel parts.
- Preferable prior experience manufacturing equipment for high integrity projects.
- Up to date knowledge of common welding symbols and good understanding of technical drawings.
- Preferably have had previous national SC security vetting
* A skill test will be required as part of the interview process which will consist of a butt and fillet weld trade test.
